Event jump starts Habitat for Humanity and Lowe’s 10th annual National Women Build Week
Fifty women corporate leaders swapped their smart phones for hammers to help kick off Habitat for Humanity and Lowe’s 10th annual National Women Build Week. The Mayor of Charlotte and leaders from the Charlotte Hornets, Krispy Kreme Doughnuts and Novant Health joined Lowe’s and others to help build two new homes for families in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Since being founded in 1983, Habitat Charlotte has served over 1,600 families in need of affordable housing through core programs of homeownership and critical home repair. The benefits that follow homeownership, or the ability to stay in a repaired home, are innumerous and life changing. Families can see improvements in health, educational outcomes and safety, just to name a few.
This year, Habitat Charlotte has a goal to serve 129 families: 57 through homeownership and 72 through critical home repair.
