Manufacturing Day Programs are Designed to Expand Knowledge of Manufacturing, Additive Manufacturing, Rapid Prototyping, and to Improve the Public Perception of Manufacturing and Career Opportunities

Youngstown, Ohio — September 25, 2015

In celebration of Manufacturing Day 2015, Hudson Fasteners, Inc., a Youngstown Business Incubator portfolio company, the Mahoning Valley Manufacturers Coalition and America Makes, the National Additive Manufacturing Innovation Institute, will host a day of events to promote the outstanding opportunities that a career in manufacturing can provide.

Manufacturing has played a critical role in the Mahoning Valley. There are almost 1,200 manufacturers in this region. Manufacturing accounts for 10.9 percent of all jobs in Trumbull, Mahoning and Columbiana Counties, Ohio, and Mercer and Lawrence Counties, Pa. Manufacturing also represents $2.66 billion in total earnings for the region. Manufacturing jobs are crucial for the new workforce, the welfare of families, and for providing healthcare and benefits to our citizens.

The city of Youngstown is the home of:

A world-class science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) program at Youngstown State University;
America Makes, the national accelerator for additive manufacturing and 3D printing; and
The Youngstown Business Incubator, the #1 University-affiliated incubator in the world

Organizations like ours are the future of Manufacturing in this country. We invite you to help us highlight the great city of Youngstown on October 2^nd by joining us for the planned events on Manufacturing Day!

Planned Manufacturing Day events include:

9:30 a.m-10:30 a.m. | To mark the event, the city of Youngstown will officially declare October 2nd as Manufacturing Day. Mayor McNally will issue a proclamation highlighting Manufacturing Day at a morning celebration at the Youngstown Business Incubator.

11:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. | The morning session will be followed by an educational session Program: 3D Printing – Learning the Basics, including Q&A session hosted by America Makes for local manufacturers.

12:00 p.m.-1:00 p.m. | Tour the America Makes facility.

2:30 p.m.-3:30p.m. | Students from the Chaney STEM High School will tour the America Makes facility.

3:30 p.m.-4:00 p.m. | Congressman Tim Ryan (OH-13) will make closing remarks for the Manufacturing Day celebration.

Manufacturing Day is an annual, national event executed at the local level supported by thousands of manufacturers as they host students, teachers, parents, job seekers and other local community members at open houses, plant tours and presentations designed to showcase modern manufacturing technology and careers.
