Youngstown Mayor McNally and Congressman Ryan to Be in Attendance
Youngstown, Ohio — October 1, 2015. America Makes, the National Additive Manufacturing Innovation Institute, in partnership with the Youngstown Business Incubator (YBI); Hudson Fasteners, Inc., a YBI portfolio company; and the Mahoning Valley Manufacturers Coalition (MVMC), are pleased to commemorate National Manufacturing (MFG) Day 2015.
MFG Day is an annual national event, executed at the local level that supports hundreds of manufacturers across the nation by hosting students, teachers, parents, job seekers, and other local community members at open houses designed to showcase modern manufacturing technology and careers. The goal of MFG Day is to address common misperceptions about manufacturing by giving manufacturers an opportunity to open their doors and show, in a coordinated effort, what manufacturing is — and what it isn’t.
The day’s event will commence at YBI where Mayor John A. McNally, City of Youngstown, will officially declare October 2nd as Manufacturing Day. Next, America Makes will welcome local manufacturers and members of the MVMC to the Institute, where they will participate in an education session about additive manufacturing, commonly referred to as 3D printing, and tour of the America Makes facility. Students from the Chaney STEM School will then arrive for a separate tour of the America Makes facility. Closing remarks for the day will be given by Congressman Tim Ryan (OH-13).
“It is an honor to have Mayor McNally and Congressman Ryan help all of us at the Institute and our partners at YBI, Hudson Fasteners, and the Mahoning Valley Manufacturers Coalition commemorate Manufacturing Day by recognizing the importance of manufacturing to our local and national economies,” said Rob Gorham, America Makes Director of Operations.
